Billy Bob

Bichon Frisé · Male · Adult · 6 years

About Billy BobBilly Bob is a lovely lad who came to the centre via inspectors after being found in absolutely terrible condition. This poor dog was completely matted and had to have all his fur shaved off, the fur that was shaved off weighed a whole kilo. His eyes were terribly sore from where the matted fur had irritated them so much. He was in terrible pain with his teeth as they had been left rotting and his mouth was filled with infection. He was immediately put on medication for his ailments and slowly he began to heal. Billy Bob has now had part one of his dental and is on the road to recovery, we recently found him to have an old injury to his back leg that was never treated. This poor little guy really has had a very tough life up to now. All he needs to complete his recovery is an understanding adopter who will give him a chance of a happy life with a loving family. Due to his neglectful and cruel past Billy Bob can be a little anxious when being handled, he just needs an empathetic adopter who will help him overcome his insecurities. Billy Bob is now learning to trust, loves being out and about and enjoying all the countryside has to offer, he is learning that life is for living and we are so proud of how far he has come with his rehabilitation and we would love to see him find his very own family who will cherish him.

About Billy Bob

What life with Billy Bob looks like

Billy Bob is a adult bichon frisé dog waiting at RSPCA York Animal Home in York.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Billy Bob, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Billy Bob?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA York Animal Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Billy Bob on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Billy Bob if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA York Animal Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Billy Bob already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Billy Bob isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA York Animal Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Billy Bob and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
