Rizzle

Bichon Frisé · Female · Adult · 6 years

I need a calm and quiet home where I can settle in at my own pace. I will need a kind resident dog to take me under their wing. I have never met cats. I will need a secure garden while I get used to my new home. I’ve never been on walks before and will need a gentle introduction. I am in a foster home now so am learning all about home life and house training. I have been spayed & am ready for my forever home! Rizzle is a quiet and timid girl who has come to us from a breeder. When she arrived she was quite overwhelmed and in need of plenty of TLC, but she has since started to come out of her shell. Rizzle has recently moved to a wonderful foster home where she is settling in and starting to learn about home life for the first time ever. She is making gentle progress and is even starting to wag her tail when her fosterer speaks to her and has ventured onto the sofa twice so far, although she is understandably still quite nervous and isn't yet feeling brave enough to approach but is trying her hardest to be brave. She will be looking for a calm and quiet home with adopters who have experience with ex-breeding dogs and who will allow her to settle in at her own pace. She will need at least one other kind and confident resident dog in her new home who she can look to and lean on as she begins to gain confidence and learns that the world isn’t such a scary place. She has never lived in a home before moving to foster, so her adopters will need to be kind and patient as she learns all about home life, including house training, though she is starting to get to grips with this already. She doesn't yet walk on a lead and harness as she is quite worried about being handled, but hopefully this will be introduced to her in the near future. She is a sweet little lady with so much potential and just needs someone willing to take a chance on her. With a loving home, a confident canine companion and plenty of patience, we’re sure Rizzle will slowly find her confidence and become a wonderful companion. Rizzle has been given the Gift of Life by Carolina Olsen Rizzle is a real sweetheart, but still very nervous, moving away from me most of the time. She has just started to wag her tail when I talk to her and has twice shared the sofa, but at a distance. If she moves into a corner, I can give her a brief stroke, otherwise she will only come for a quick sniff of my hand. She is not yet confident enough to take a treat from me. She eats well, preferring to eat alone, but not because of any guarding issues. Rizzle has chewed toys and played with Petal, my other foster dog, but this is not a regular occurrence. She spends a lot of time alongside Petal. She is getting used to household sounds, dislikes the vacuum cleaner and goes in the garden but is OK with the washing machine, and tolerates the ironing board. Rizzle will briefly bark if she hears a sound in the garden, eg another dog or voices. At night or if I go out, she sleeps quietly in the lounge with the other dogs. She doesn't enjoy handling at the moment, so I have not made any attempt to put a harness on her. Her toilet training is a work in progress, being clean when the back door is open. Rizzle is a quiet and timid girl who has come to us from a breeder. She is beginning to show us just how inquisitive she can be and is trying her hardest to be brave. Rizzle isn’t quite ready to approach us just yet, but she does follow the lead of her doggy friends and takes lots of comfort from having them around. With plenty of TLC, patience and reassurance, we’re sure it shouldn’t take her too long to come around and start showing her lovely personality. Rizzle will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home who she can look to and lean on as she begins to gain confidence and learns that the world isn’t such a scary place. She has never lived in a home before, so her adopters will need to be kind and patient as she learns all about home life, including house training. She will need time to take everything at her own pace and shouldn’t be rushed before she is ready. Rizzle can live with older, dog-savvy children who are sensible and will understand that she needs time and space to settle in. She is a sweet little lady with so much potential and just needs someone willing to take a chance on her. With a loving home, a confident canine companion and plenty of patience, we’re sure Rizzle will slowly find her confidence and become a wonderful companion. Through the generosity of a Gift of Life sponsor, this dog was able to leave behind an uncertain future in Ireland and find safety and care at Many Tears. Every sponsorship helps us rescue and save more dogs in desperate need. If you would like to become part of a rescue story, please consider donating to our Gift of Life fund. About Rizzle

What life with Rizzle looks like

Rizzle is an adult bichon frisé dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rizzle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rizzle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rizzle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rizzle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Rizzle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rizzle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rizzle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
