Billy

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Billy is a shy, gentle, and attentively observant female dog (born 2020, approx. 45–48 cm) who is looking for an experienced home or an empathetic foster placement. She is an elegant and beautiful Romanian Shepherd mix whose quiet, cautious nature touches people right away. Billy is one of those dogs you don't need to call out loudly for – you feel her presence. When we first met her, she was very timid and consistently sought shelter in her hut. But over the course of our visits she has taken small yet meaningful steps: she now stays outside the hut even when visitors are present, and she watches attentively what is happening around her. Billy is not a dog who seeks closeness to people right away. But she is a dog who deserves a chance – a chance with people who see her sensitivity, respect her pace, and show her that the world can be kind and life can be beautiful. Billy is neutered and will be vaccinated and microchipped; she will be placed with a protection contract after a positive pre-adoption check. General note about our dogs: Our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can continually reassess their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us convey as accurate a picture as possible of each individual dog. However, please be aware that a dog may show a different side in a new environment – with new people, new routines, and new impressions. This is completely normal and part of any process of change. Many dogs open up even faster in a home and reveal sides that were not visible at the shelter. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but they are not a guarantee of any particular behavior in a new setting. They are meant to provide guidance and show how the dog presents herself at the shelter – and what potential she has. We are convinced that with patience, understanding, and a loving environment, every dog can find their way and continue to develop positively.

About Billy

What life with Billy looks like

Billy is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Billy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Billy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Billy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Billy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Billy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Billy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Billy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
