Billy

Mixed Breed Β· Male Β· Adult Β· 6 years

Please meet Billy, a 5/6yr old Daxi who, due to change in family circumstances, needs a new home. He is a timid little lad and this is partly because he was being bullied by another dog at his previous home and he needs time to get to know you and is wary of strangers. He is house and crate trained and is now starting to go out for walks and new adventures which he is slowly staring to enjoy and gain confidence on. He is scared of young children and loud bangs scare him, but he is doing so well out and about on the roads with traffic etc. He gains his confidence from his foster pal who loves going out and is a bundle of fun. He knows his basic commands and likes to play a game of ball although he has not quite got the hang of leave yet. New owners must be prepared to groom him, which he is not too fond of but, being long haired, must be done. He has not lived with cats or young children. He is a lovely little lad who has so much love to give and just needs someone to give him time and lots of love. HOMING INFOBilly is looking for an older family children 12+ who will not be out all day and leave him for long periods as he does not like being alone. He really needs to be with another confident dog to give him confidence and show him the world is not a bad place to be. New owners must have a secure garden and be prepared to continue training and socialising with himFor an application form email

About Billy

What life with Billy looks like

Billy is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Futures for Dogs in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Billy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Billy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Futures for Dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Billy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Billy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Futures for Dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Billy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Billy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Futures for Dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Billy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
