Billy

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Billy, a 4-year-old Pinscher mix, was heartlessly abandoned by his Spanish owner (his past is unknown) and found himself in a so-called euthanasia station. The smallest dogs are often the first victims when large dogs fight out of desperation and hopelessness. Billy has since left this terrible place. He found shelter in our Spanish rescue center - thanks to kind people who donated a "ticket out of hell," we were able to save this dog's life. However, the rocky road to a happy life beyond Spain is still long... Billy hopes someone will discover him and give him his ticket to Germany.Billy is a very loving, very people-oriented soul. He gets along well with his fellow dogs in the shelter situation. Initially, he was a bit shy and marked by his past, but anyone who gives him a little time and love will be rewarded with loyalty. The little man dreams of curling up on a soft sofa and finally feeling the security of a family he so deserves.Billy has already packed his "suitcase." He longs for a nice family who enjoys being in nature and shows him how beautiful the world can be.If you can imagine giving Billy a new chapter in his life full of affection and security, we would be very happy to hear from you. Please describe your life situation in your inquiry: who belongs to the family, how you live, what your weekday routine is like, and do you have experience with dogs? This information will help us find the right family for the little treasure. His future family should also be willing to personally receive Billy in northern Bavaria - this is where all our protégés from Spain arrive without exception.Thank you for having a heart for the forgotten souls of this world - maybe Billy will soon be a part of your life? About Billy

What life with Billy looks like

Billy is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) in Vilseck.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Billy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Billy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Billy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Billy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Billy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Billy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Billy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
