He likes to play with other dogs and does not like to live alone. He always needs one or two other dogs to keep him company. He is not a barker and does nothing broken, but because of his shyness he is still not adopted. + a new video and 5 new photos added. Update August 3, 2025: New video added. Update July 4, 2025: Billy is still very afraid of people. He now knows the regular volunteers and is more comfortable with them. He goes on walks and is also perfectly at ease in the kennel run among the other dogs. However, contact with people or being touched makes him very scared. Still, Billy recently had a visit from his sponsor. It's nice to see that despite the distance there is a bond between human and animal. Update July 23, 2024: Billy remains afraid of people, it's getting a bit better but he needs a bit more time before he has enough trust to be adopted. 6 new photos and video added. If we don't save them, the people who find them will call the municipal animal shelter (Perrera) and it is so cold. So we were in a big dilemma, if they were taken to the municipal animal shelter and they became sick, what would eventually happen to them? Billy and Joel are pups. They came into the animal shelter on November 2, 2021 and from that moment on the two got along well with other dogs. They are a little afraid of people, they have no trust yet but this is getting better every day. On the second day they took the food already from our hands. How can they not be afraid of people, if they were treated so badly and left behind? Billy is the dark puppy, he is a bit smaller and also a bit more distrustful, Joel is the one with the lighter coat. The two are real treasures, two sweethearts who crossed our paths and now we can't imagine them not being there. They love to be accompanied by other dogs to play. They are not very active and avoid leaving their familiar environment and that will certainly be because they are afraid of getting lost ... When they came to us they had severe diarrhea but now they are dewormed and it is getting better every day. Billy will not grow much more and he is so cute. We really want to prevent them from growing up in the animal shelter, that would make us very sad ... Which forever family has enough time and love to give him back his trust in people, he deserves to know only love for the rest of his life.

Update 22 januari 2026: Billy is nog steeds bang voor mensen. Hij speelt graag met andere honden en houdt er niet van alleen te wonen. Hij heeft altijd een of twee andere honden nodig om hem gezelschap te houden. Hij is geen blaffer en maakt niets kapot, maar door zijn verlegenheid is hij nog steeds niet geadopteerd. + een nieuwe video en 5 nieuwe foto's toegevoegd. Update 03 aug 2025: nieuwe video toegevoegd Update 4 juli 2025: Billy is nog steeds erg bang voor mensen. De vaste vrijwilligers kent hij ondertussen wel en daar is hij al meer vertrouwd bij. Hij gaat mee met wandelingen en ook in de kennel is hij prima op zijn gemak tussen de andere honden. Maar contact met mensen of aangeraakt worden maakt hem heel erg bang. Toch heeft Billy laatst bezoek gehad van zijn sponsor. Het is mooi om te zien dat er ondanks afstand een band is tussen mens en dier. Update 23 juli 2024: Billy blijft bang voor mensen, het gaat wel wat beter maar hij heeft nog wat meer tijd nodig voordat hij genoeg vertrouwen heeft om geadopteerd te kunnen worden. 6 nieuwe foto's en video toegevoegd. Update 30 augustus 2023: Wat er in de vorige tekst staat is nog steeds realiteit, Billy blijft uit onze handen eten maar hij wil nog steeds geen genegenheid van mensen. Hij komt alleen dichterbij als we ze eten geven. Met het verstrijken van de tijd .... is hij niet verbeterd ... het is heel jammer. En nu Joel naar een familie is gegaan hoopten we dat Billy hier minder afhankelijk van zou worden maar tot nu toe is dat nog niet gebeurd. Een meisje dat ons kent belde ons en wat hadden we anders kunnen doen dan ze te redden? maar we zatten al voller dan vol en konden eigenlijk niet meer opnemen... Het jachtseizoen is afgelopen en we kunnen niet anders dan blijven doorgaan met het redden van meer en meer Podenco's die gewoon op straat en op de snelwegen worden achtergelaten. Als we ze niet redden, zullen de mensen die ze vinden het gemeentelijk asiel (Perrera) bellen en het is zooo koud. Dus we zaten in een groot dilemma, als ze naar het gemeentelijk asiel gebracht zouden worden en ze zouden ziek geworden zijn, wat was er dan uiteindelijk met hen gebeurt??? Billy en Joel zijn nog pups. Ze kwamen op 2 november 2021 in het asiel en vanaf dat moment konden de twee heel goed met andere honden opschieten. Ze zijn een beetje bang voor mensen, ze hebben nog geen vertrouwen maar dit wordt elke dag beter. Op de tweede dag namen ze het eten al uit onze handen. Hoe kunnen ze ook niet angstig zijn voor mensen, als ze zo slecht behandeld en in de steek gelaten zijn? Billy is het donkere hondje, hij is wat kleiner en ook wat wantrouwiger, Joel is degene met de lichtere vacht. De twee zijn echte schatjes, twee lieverds die onze wegen hebben gekruist en nu kunnen we ons niet voorstellen dan ze er niet zouden zijn. Ze vinden het heerlijk om vergezeld te worden door andere honden om te spelen. Ze zijn niet erg actief en vermijden om uit hun vertrouwde omgeving te gaan en dat zal zeker zijn omdat ze bang zijn om te verdwalen… Toen ze bij ons kwamen hadden ze hevige diarree maar nu zijn ze ontwormd en gaat het met de dag beter. Billy zal niet veel meer groeien en hij is zo lief. We willen zo graag voorkomen dat ze in het asiel moeten opgroeien, dat zou ons zo verdrietig maken... Welke forever familie heeft genoeg tijd en liefde om hem zijn vertrouwen in mensen terug te geven, hij verdient het zo om de rest van zijn leven alleen maar liefde te kennen.
