Billy Young

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Billy is a straightforward, affectionate and friendly young puppy who wants to do everything right. The little guy quickly finds his way into your heart. Curious and brave, he explores his world. Billy grew up in his first year of life with three other small dogs. For the deceased owner, the dogs were everything, and with their sudden death, everything changed for the little guy overnight. Therefore, he follows his foster mother every step of the way, as if to make sure he won't be left alone again. Some separation anxiety is understandable, but with patience, understanding and calmness, it gets better day by day. Billy lives in the foster home with two other smaller dogs. He gets along well here, although the teenager still needs to learn what personal space is. This clever guy will surely understand quickly. Billy is not a barker. When walking, he calmly and curiously reacts to other dogs. The foster mother can imagine that with some recall training, he will soon be able to run freely. With Billy you get a balanced and peaceful puppy who would also not mind sharing the couch and bed with his owner and human. A cuddly and active family with a garden and time for regular walks is being sought for Billy. A visit to a dog training class would certainly suit Billy. Work is currently underway on leash walking and relaxed car rides in the foster home. He probably doesn't know both very well yet. Update: I now ride in the car completely relaxed. Walking on the leash is already much better. I can now also sit. Children who treat me kindly and responsibly are great. Cats and birds are not part of my circle of friends. Being alone and sleeping alone is really hard. I am practicing it - promised.

DE·Show original

About Billy Young

What life with Billy Young looks like

Billy Young is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Franken e.V. in Lauf.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Billy Young, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Billy Young?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Franken e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Billy Young on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Billy Young if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Franken e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Billy Young already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Billy Young isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Franken e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Billy Young and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
