Adopt Birbante

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

During our project tour in mid-October 2023, a castration operation was again conducted at the our shelter. One of the candidates who were neutered was the loving Birbante. Birbante showed himself to be very friendly and unbothered. Curious, he inspected the rooms that belong to the operating area. Over our cuddles, he was very happy, and he watched the pre-op preparations calmly and composedly. And of course, he passed his operation without a hitch. It would be nice if Birbante didn't have to wait too long at the our shelter, because the staff at the our shelter can't afford to give the dogs the affection they need through individual play or snuggling sessions. There are too many dogs (and also cats) to be cared for daily. And with the many dogs living in distressing confinement, conflicts and bites do occur from time to time. It is simply a very sad existence. Birbante has been waiting for his chance to travel since over a year. We hope that he can soon pack his bag and leave the our shelter. August 20, 2024: Two of our team members spontaneously made their way to Sardinia in mid-August to personally meet and photograph our shelter companions. They also visited Birbante, who still awaits a loving home. It has almost been two years, and it is always very sad when young, unbothered dogs must grow older in the kennel. Currently, he lives with Martina, Marte, and Martino. Birbante was very reserved at first, but after a certain time, he also dared to "sniff around" once. Unfortunately, the time was too short to get to know him better. We are sure that with time, he would have warmed up and enjoyed the cuddles just as much as the other fur babies. We hope very much that Birbante will finally get the chance to leave the kennel. Would you like to give Birbante a new, better life? If you are aware that adopting a dog means not only joy but also work, and you are ready to take on the responsibility for a happy and hopefully long dog life, then we look forward to your message. August 31, 2025: A team member and her daughter sacrificed some of their vacation time to personally meet or see some of the shelter companions. They also met Birbante. Birbante is a quiet, very friendly dog who immediately showed interest. At first a little reserved, his curiosity soon won out. When he noticed the treats, he happily jumped up on the hut with his front paws, wagged his tail joyfully, and took the treat as a matter of course. After that, he let himself be stroked and eventually lay down relaxed. It was touching to see how much Birbante enjoys human proximity and how open he can be when given some time. Now, he just needs a home where he will be loved and can finally arrive. Would you like to give Birbante this chance? We place companions throughout the country.

About Birbante

What life with Birbante looks like

Birbante is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Birbante, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Birbante?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Birbante on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Birbante if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Birbante already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Birbante isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Birbante and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
