Biscotti

Lurcher · Male · Adult · 5 years

Beautiful Biscotti is an incredibly sweet boy with an abundance of love to give. He is very much a people's dog and has formed strong bonds with his handlers here in the centre. He can find the outside world a bit worrying but leans on those bonds formed to help him build his confidence. Biscotti has shown that when he is given time, patience and love, he begins to come out of his shell. He has already made so much progress at the centre, including making new walking buddy friends. His ideal night would be curled up on a sofa under a blanket, snuggled up next to his adopters. He will be an incredibly rewarding dog for a home that can offer stability and patience so that he can blossom into his fun, goofy, cuddly self. Biscotti, a 5-year-old Lurcher, is a very sweet, sensitive boy who is working on building his confidence. He can find the outside world a bit worrying and will need a family who are happy to give him the time to build his confidence and slowly open his world up. He is a very friendly dog and would be happy going to a home with secondary-aged children who understand that he may need some quiet time to adjust and decompress. Biscotti could have younger visiting children if supervised and, once settled, will be happy having regular visitors. Biscotti would need to be the only dog in the home but would be happy having walking buddies. He could go to a home with small furries, birds or livestock if kept separate. Ideally, Biscotti needs a calm home environment with a family who will give him the time and patience to blossom in his new home.

About Biscotti

What life with Biscotti looks like

Biscotti is a small adult lurcher dog waiting at Dogs Trust Harefield in Harefield.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Biscotti, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Biscotti?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Harefield handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Biscotti on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Biscotti if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Harefield will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Biscotti already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Biscotti isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Harefield early rather than rehoming privately; they know Biscotti and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
