Adopt Bitang

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Bitang is currently living at our partner shelter. His brother was already able to move into a home of his own - only Bitang is still waiting for his people. He is a friendly, curious puppy who gets along well with other dogs and always approaches people openly. He has a lot of joy for life and enthusiasm - Bitang wants to explore the world, run, play and belong. He hasn't had many experiences with the leash and collar yet, as they are rarely used in the daily routine at the shelter. Walks are rare, and Bitang simply doesn't know yet how beautiful shared outings can be. With patience, calmness and loving guidance, however, he will quickly learn that the leash is the key to many new adventures. We wish for Bitang a sensitive person or family who enjoys supporting him in learning and showing him the nice sides of life. He deserves it so much to finally arrive and get to know the world outside the shelter. Glück für Pfoten e.V. - The way to a new life - Phone and email: including safety harness. As we are employed, we might get back to you only after several hours. It's best to contact the above-mentioned mediator first in writing (by email or WhatsApp) and ask for a call back (don't forget to include your phone number if necessary). Please be patient! Our animals travel with Traces and are rehomed exclusively within Germany (nationwide). If you would like to apply for a dog and you are renting, please arrange a written confirmation from your landlord that keeping a (further or new) dog is allowed. We rehome dogs up to the second floor, provided there is no elevator, in order to prevent health restrictions. This is a young, adolescent dog.

Bitang lebt derzeit in unserem Partnertierheim. About Bitang

What life with Bitang looks like

Bitang is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Glück für Pfoten e.V. in Dortmund.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bitang, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bitang?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glück für Pfoten e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bitang on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bitang if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glück für Pfoten e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bitang already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bitang isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glück für Pfoten e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bitang and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
