Blacky

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten · 3 months

The kittens Blacky (female), Lexy (female), and Cody (male) were born in March at the foster home and were raised by their loving mother. All three are very playful and people-oriented. They’re active kittens who love to join in on everything. Although Blacky is the smallest of the three, she’s also the bravest. Cody and Lexy may initially be a bit more cautious when encountering new sounds or objects, but they quickly warm up and enthusiastically explore these new things together. Since their mother suffers from chronic feline upper respiratory disease, the kittens occasionally show symptoms as well. These flare-ups can usually be treated with homeopathic remedies. We’re looking for a home for the three kittens that offers plenty of time for play and, in the future, supervised outdoor access in a quiet, traffic-calmed area. Alternatively, we’d welcome them into an apartment with a securely fenced balcony. The kittens will be placed in pairs, trios, or as part of a social group of similarly aged companions. All three have tested negative for leukemia, are vaccinated, microchipped, and treated against parasites. They will only be rehomed on the condition that they are neutered as soon as they reach sexual maturity.

About Blacky

What life with Blacky looks like

Blacky is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenhilfe Bern in Katzenhilfe Bern.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Blacky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blacky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenhilfe Bern handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blacky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blacky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenhilfe Bern will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Blacky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Blacky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenhilfe Bern early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blacky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
