Blade

Lurcher · Male · Senior · 10 years

Meet Blade, our handsome Lurcher with a big heart and a beautiful smile! This lovely older gentleman has plenty of fun and affection to share. Blade is a happy, friendly boy who adores meeting people, making new doggy friends and being showered with fuss and attention. He enjoys leisurely walks, pottering about outdoors and would make a wonderful companion for café trips, pub lunches or simply relaxing in the sunshine. Blade could potentially share his home with a friendly, easy-going dog and would love a secure garden where he can enjoy a little sunbathing and his adorable slow-motion zoomies! He’s looking for a loving home where he can enjoy life at his own pace, with plenty of companionship, gentle handling and cosy cuddles. After losing his beloved owner, Blade deserves a fresh start with someone special who will show him just how wonderful life can be. Could you be the one to give this smiley boy his happily ever after? Blade has been left for short periods in his foster home. Blade would benefit from some training to build up his home alone slowly in his new home. Blade has Arthritis , this will require consideration before this pet is rehomed. He also has a fatty lump and had an episode of vomiting. Our rehoming team will be able to give you further information if you apply to rehome them and you are a successful match. We would also advise that any medical conditions, be that historic or ongoing, are discussed with your own vet prior to taking them home.

About Blade

What life with Blade looks like

Blade is a large senior lurcher dog waiting at Wood Green in London.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Blade, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blade?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Wood Green handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blade on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blade if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Wood Green will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Blade already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Blade isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Wood Green early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blade and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
