Adopt Blanca

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Blanca is a genuine loveable little dog who was born in May 2018 and is of medium size (17 kg). She is the oldest dog at our shelter and it's because, as we will tell you, it's not easy to find her a home. We don't want to lie to anyone. We must tell you how she is and reflect her in a text so that the person reading this knows her completely and what life would be like with Blanca. Blanca suffered abandonment within her own home. She lived, along with other dogs, on the roof of a house. The lack of socialization during this time has made Blanca need guidelines to relate to unfamiliar dogs. Blanca is a very affectionate dog with people and in that aspect, she is a balanced little dog: she likes to play, rest, seek affection, and accompany the human. However, what some have diagnosed as ANXIETY makes her a selective dog with her fellow canines. You never know with whom she will get along and with which dog she will play or be balanced. She doesn't like being confined, which is another reason why the animal shelter is not a place for her. We cannot tell you that she will get along with your dog because we don't know. We know that with some large dogs, she plays and has become intimate, but with others, she hasn't. We have also experienced how she attacked a puppy dog without any stimulus that would have provoked her reaction. Blanca must go out for walks on a leash because you never know which dog she will get along with. If you already have a dog, we also cannot guarantee that she will be the chosen one by her, so it's better for her to be adopted by someone without dogs. With you and the rest of the people, she will be a love, but with other dogs, we simply don't know. Despite all this, we cannot give up. How can we let Blanca spend her days in the animal shelter? They are cared for and attended to, but they are cages. Should she die there? Should we ignore that she exists? What kind of animal shelter are we then? We are the good ones, the ones who do not leave anyone behind. Is it you, her home? We are sure that there is someone for everyone, and we are just waiting for her to be read. You can also come to the animal shelter to meet Blanca. You will be given a questionnaire with questions related to pet ownership at home. We will visit the home where the animal will live, and all family members must be present. Commitment to responsible pet ownership where animal rights and well-being are respected. Includes financial assistance in the form of veterinary care. Note: Check your spam and other folders. Our reply email may end up there. This animal must be handled with a muzzle. Not suitable for homes with other dogs.

No queremos mentir a nadie.

About Blanca

What life with Blanca looks like

Blanca is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at El Refugio Escuela Marlene in Seville.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Blanca, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blanca?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. El Refugio Escuela Marlene handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blanca on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blanca if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — El Refugio Escuela Marlene will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Blanca already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Blanca isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with El Refugio Escuela Marlene early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blanca and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
