Adopt Blaze

Cocker Spaniel · Male · Adult · 6 years

Blaze is a happy Spaniel looking for a new home where he can have company most of the time and a garden to relax in. He would prefer not to be in a town or busy area and it would be best if his new home has Spaniel experience. Blaze is good with visitors to the home and meeting people outside, but he gives a very warm hello to the people he knows. He does not like people pulling his tail. Blaze is scared of loud bangs. On walks, Blaze is fine with other dogs but is a bit cautious and will allow a quick sniff then walk away. He loves going on long walks with lots of good smells. Blaze travels well in the car. He wears a harness on walks, but still pulls on the lead. Blaze is better at walking off-lead and his recall is fairly good. Blaze is really happy when he is free to roam and explore on long walks. He adores going in water and playing fetch with a tennis ball. Blaze can be left for a few hours and does not seem to have separation anxiety, but he will be your shadow around the home. He has been to groomers before and been fine, he is also fine with being washed and brushed at home. © 2025 Dog Aid Scotland (SCIO Charity No. SC001918) Web Design by Techincal Services Scotland. About Blaze

What life with Blaze looks like

Blaze is a adult cocker spaniel dog waiting at Dog Aid Society of Scotland in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Blaze, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blaze?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dog Aid Society of Scotland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blaze on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blaze if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dog Aid Society of Scotland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Blaze already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Blaze isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dog Aid Society of Scotland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blaze and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
