Blindfisch &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 18 years

Sometimes miracles happen. The owners of Blindfish, who is actually named Mint and is proudly 18 years old, found out through indirect means that Blindfish might be here with us. And he was, they were very happy to see him again... because hope had been almost gone. We are also happy that we could financially agree. Since it's about almost 500 euros in veterinary costs plus the boarding costs incurred here, I immediately contacted the godmother of Blindfish, who will now take over the accommodation costs at our shelter to relieve the owners financially. These people take on the huge burden to make Mint's golden years easier. Equipped with wet and dry kidney food, current blood results, treated for fleas and Giardia, and with some blood tests along with medications, we were able to return Blindfish-Mint to his actual home. Thank you to everyone involved and especially for the understanding of the owners. We wish the wonderful Blindfish that his kidneys continue to function well for a long time, so that nothing stands in the way of a fine retirement... and not escape anymore, old rascal! …………………………………………………………………………………………………… EKH Blindfish (2004 minus) mnl., neutered, blind, suffering from kidney disease without any chance of improvement even with infusions…… mnl., neutered, blind, suffering from kidney disease without any chance of improvement even with infusions – looking for a place of mercy ….. Blindfish is moving in today from the practice for his last time, at least for now, to our Logenplatz for elder presidents or chronically ill cats, for his last time, which is still given to him. Blindfish relies a lot on voices, is gentle and cuddly and has a limited time ahead. The planned dental work was canceled due to the values – perhaps someone might still find, who gives our Blindfish the necessary cuddles he so enjoys... and would be heaven on earth for his still short remaining time. He doesn't need much, except special kidney diet, he is a quiet, patient and very gentle giant, who clearly shows a good cat life.

About Blindfisch &#8211

What life with Blindfisch &#8211 looks like

Blindfisch &#8211 is a extra-large senior mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Blindfisch &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blindfisch &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blindfisch &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blindfisch &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Blindfisch &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Blindfisch &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blindfisch &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
