Blue

Unknown · Young · 3 years

Blue is a white-black Dalmatian male born on 21.01.2023 and is an unneutered (hormone chip since June 2026). He lives again with his breeder in 29690 Buchholz. 18.09.2026: We let his breeder write what needs to be known about Blue: Blue lives with me in the pack. However, living with in-heat females means constant stress for him. I notice every day more that I can no longer do him justice under these circumstances. And as much as I love him - keeping him for selfish reasons would not be fair to him. That's why I wish nothing more than to find the place where Blue can finally just be a dog. Blue is a real Dalmatian - active, attentive and full of energy. He loves long walks, ball games and water. Once he has gained trust (he doesn't like strangers immediately), he is incredibly affectionate and seeks the closeness of his humans. However, he doesn't give this trust to everyone immediately. You have to earn it. Whoever gives him this time will gain a loyal companion for life. Blue is not a dog for everyone. He has difficulties with other dogs and should therefore live exclusively as a single dog. Cats and small children should also not be in the new home. He grew up in the countryside and a quiet, rural home would suit him much better than life in a city. I wish for Blue people with dog experience - people who understand that not every dog works perfectly from the start. People who are willing to work with him, give him security and not give up when it gets difficult. Blue needs consistent, but always fair and loving leadership. He needs time to arrive and build trust. In the pack, he knows being alone, but as a single dog he has to learn this anew. With patience and a structured setup, this will also succeed. I am sure that Blue will flourish in his home as the only prince. A dog who does not have to share his humans, who gets the attention he craves, and who finally finds the peace he lacks in the pack. Blue is looking for an experienced, committed home. We think a well-educated, sovereign spayed female would be an advantage for him. Whoever wants to give Blue a home or foster home with option takeover, please contact: SOS-Dalmatinerrettung e.V. About Blue

What life with Blue looks like

Blue is a young adult dog waiting at SOS-Dalmatinerrettung e.V. in Neustad.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Blue, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blue?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SOS-Dalmatinerrettung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blue on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blue if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SOS-Dalmatinerrettung e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Blue already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Blue isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SOS-Dalmatinerrettung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blue and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
