Sid

Unknown · Adult · 6 years

Sid is a white-black unneutered (hormone chip since November 2025) Dalmatian male born on October 12, 2020. He still lives with his owners in 21401 Thomasburg. 04.09.2026: Sid is looking for a new home or foster home due to his behavior. He tends to bite his owners when he doesn't like something. Now a baby is there and the family is afraid for the child despite the dog trainer. Sid is friendly to his owners as long as everything goes his way (he's not just bad, at his core he is a very sensitive and loving dog). He is very active, cycling, jogging, playing ball, swimming. Basic obedience training is in place, except when he doesn't feel like it, then he withdraws from contact with people, other dogs, he reacts uncertain only with muzzle. Sid can stay alone without problems, drives car. His owners describe him as follows: basically a very playful dog - he is completely addicted to balls and sticks. Water is his absolute favorite, last year, he even swam almost a km in the Baltic Sea next to us. The weather is no problem for him, wind, heavy rain, snow and up to -10 degrees doesn't bother him. He is also very persistent in everything, can be demanding and if he has set his mind on something, he is strong-willed. He learns very quickly. Since we are very much in the forest, he knows many wild animals, the hunting instinct is present, but 95% he does not run off or listens to Abbruch -No-, even when they are just in front of us. Free running is even one of his strengths, works basically better than on a leash. However, there is very little to no frequency, hardly any encounter with dogs, people, etc. Otherwise, he should already be secured with a leash. His new family/foster home should have experience in dealing with dogs and be able to provide leadership. He is looking for a home and/or foster home as soon as possible. Who wants to give Sid a home and/or foster home with the option of taking over, please contact: SOS-Dalmatinerrettung e.V. Nicole Breitholz or www.sos-dalmatinerrettung.de Please read the process and conditions of the placement on the placement page

About Sid

What life with Sid looks like

Sid is a adult dog waiting at SOS-Dalmatinerrettung e.V. in Neustad.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sid, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sid?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SOS-Dalmatinerrettung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sid on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sid if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SOS-Dalmatinerrettung e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sid already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sid isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SOS-Dalmatinerrettung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sid and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
