Adopt Blue

Husky · Male · Senior · 9 years

Blue arrived at the shelter with his friend Kassie, because the home of their former owner had become uninhabitable and their new accommodation could not accommodate dogs. Kassie has since found a family, but Blue, on the other hand, is still waiting for his. Blue has already been adopted, but unfortunately returned to the shelter because he could not handle being alone. Very attached to human presence, this point will need to be addressed from scratch, with progressive and appropriate training in order to help him stay alone more calmly. Daily, Blue is a loving, playful, and dynamic dog, who can also be calm. He greatly enjoys walks and is very pleasant on walks. He fully enjoys these moments outdoors and would be a great companion for a family wanting to share a life full of discoveries and small everyday adventures. Regarding his relationships with other dogs, Blue can be uncomfortable with proximity, especially with males. He can also be persistent, even harassing, with females. Therefore, appropriate and supervised management will be necessary. For handling, Blue needs to know and trust before allowing himself to be handled. Cooperative care work will be important to allow him to experience these moments more calmly.

About Blue

What life with Blue looks like

Blue is a senior husky dog waiting at Perwez) in Sans Collier.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Blue, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blue?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Perwez) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blue on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blue if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Perwez) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Blue already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Blue isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Perwez) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blue and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
