BO

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Bo is a gentle and intelligent bear-like dog. He is a bit vigilant, and this was evident during the visit as the volunteer was greeted with barking. However, he quickly came over to say hello, sniff, and seek cuddles. At the daycare where he goes twice a week, he is known as a happy, relaxed, and playful dog who adapts very well to the group. Around his owner, particularly outdoors, Bo becomes a completely different dog. He is never at ease, which was clear during the home visit. First, the volunteer took a walk with him alone. He followed well, was relaxed, and enjoyed it. Once, he wanted to react when people walking out of their house walked right in front of them, but a simple "NO" was enough to calm him down. Then, the owner took a short walk, followed by our volunteer at a distance. Bo's transformation was remarkable. His tension and level of vigilance increased. He was constantly scanning the environment for danger. He tried to attack people who came too close. Dogs he considered a "danger" caused the same reaction. Bo is used to an open (fabric) crate and goes inside to find tranquility. However, he panics completely when you try to lock him in his crate. He can stay home alone without destroying and comes with the car without problems. We have done several elimination tests to determine his allergy. Unfortunately, we could not find the cause. For now, he no longer takes allergy medication. Bo has attended several courses in dog training. He loves balance and coordination training. He knows the basic commands and listens well. He cannot run without a leash outdoors due to his protective behavior and, in addition, tries to stop joggers and cyclists. Other typical border collie characteristics are circling around children and trying to gather all the dogs in the pack. What type of forever home is being sought for Bo? A family where Bo can be a dog without worry and without feeling like he has to fulfill the role of guardian for his owners. He needs adopters who make it very clear that they can take care of themselves very well. Owners who are comfortable in their own skin and who can give direction to this energetic dog. His story: Bo came from Romania to the Netherlands with his mother and sister to be adopted. He was only 4 or 5 months old. His owner tried to change his behavior with the help of a behavioral therapist, but she had to conclude that Bo alone was not the problem. She and he are not the ideal combination. That's why she asked BLC to find a new home that is more suitable for his needs.

About BO

What life with BO looks like

BO is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Border Line Collie in borderlinecollie.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting BO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Border Line Collie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Border Line Collie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is BO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Border Line Collie early rather than rehoming privately; they know BO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
