Bob

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Old dogs have a wisdom of their own. Regardless of what character they had in their youth, or what life they have lived up to the moment they come into your hands, the elderly dog you know is in one way or another wise. One such dog is Bob. He has a stoicism, a maturity, and a deep gaze, as if you can read stories he has lived and lessons he has learned in his eyes. Bob came to us for leishmaniasis treatment and rehabilitation. A dog that has spent neatry all his life on the streets, and now, in the most tender phase of his life, the phase where he needs a bit of comfort, a bit more care, and some enjoyment, it is very difficult for us to leave him back on the street, even though we know he will live safely and be fed. Seeing his white face enjoying the tranquility and the magic every time we take him with us to the office, it is inconceivable for us to let him spend the last years of his life in the cold of winter and the heat of summer.Bob has completed his treatment and is doing well. He is a dog of mild tones and gentle character. He enjoys walking on a leash, follows faithfully, and does not pull, without needing long walks to release energy. He is very clean, goes to the bathroom on his walks, and if he is in the office and needs to go out, he goes to the door and asks to be let out.

About Bob

What life with Bob looks like

Bob is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Save a Greek Stray in Metsovo.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bob, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bob?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Save a Greek Stray handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bob on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bob if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Save a Greek Stray will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bob already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bob isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Save a Greek Stray early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bob and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
