Bobby

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 12 months

We met Bobby at our visit to the animal shelter at the beginning of November 25. Bobby is an extremely friendly and trusting dog who actively sought out our company. He enjoys when someone engages with him, demands cuddles, and loves treats. Although Bobby is clearly a bit overweight, he also received small goodies from us because his sweet gaze is simply irresistible. For his health, it is essential that he loses weight gradually in his new home. We believe that regular exercise and a feeding management plan will help him shed the pounds. We hope that Bobby will soon be discovered by his people and be able to give his heart. He is a very gentle dog who is easy to handle and also bravely accepted the blood draw. Bobby was tested negative for heartworm, ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, and borreliosis on 13.11.25 using the Idexx Snap 4 d Test. Bobby was rescued by Ancsa from an overcrowded killing station. In this station, if possible, animals are not killed but kept in storage. They live in tiny kennels and have no run. Bobby had a bit of bad luck, as he was also tested positive for heartworm (September 24). So, it was always the other dogs who were rescued by animal rescuers. The poor dog lived for 12 months in a tiny pen, which did not take away his zest for life. When Ancsa learned of his plight, they decided to take him in and rescued the friendly male dogs into their private animal shelter. Here, Bobby shows his best side. He is very open and friendly and enjoys every moment he is out of his pen. Happily bounding around in the run, he constantly seeks the company of his trusted people. Due to the lack of movement, Bobby is a bit chubby, but his energy will surely burn off the pounds.

DE·Show original

About Bobby

What life with Bobby looks like

Bobby is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fellfreunde e.V. in Solingen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bobby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bobby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fellfreunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bobby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bobby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fellfreunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bobby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bobby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fellfreunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bobby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
