Bobby

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Bobby, born 12/2020, is an impressive young male dog at 57 cm tall. After everything he has been through, he finally deserves people who see him, give him security, and want to shower him with lots of love. He was rescued from euthanasia and then had to get through treatment for a sticker tumor (a mast cell tumor); today he is stable, full of joie de vivre, and ready for a fresh start. Given his temperament and disposition, Bobby would feel most comfortable in a rural foster home with a fenced garden. He loves being outdoors, moving freely, and settling in calmly. Bobby shows exceptional friendliness toward people. He forms a close bond with his primary caregiver and is also open and affectionate toward men, which is not a given with every dog and makes him special. Update on visit, August 2026: Bobby has changed. The once so friendly, open young dog now seems reserved and cautious, almost a bit fearful. Anyone who knows him can immediately sense that something is wrong. In a very short time, the cheerful fellow has become a dog who holds back and no longer breathes as freely as before. We would rather not imagine what may have happened. But one thing is certain: Bobby needs to get out of there, and as quickly as possible! A dog like him, sensitive, people-oriented, and deeply loyal, must not remain in an environment that frightens him or unsettles him. He needs people who look closely. People who do not look away. People who understand that a change in a dog is always a sign, and that Bobby urgently needs support now. Please do not look away. Bobby deserves security, closeness, calm, and someone who will help him become the dog he truly is again: warm-hearted, friendly, and full of trust. With other dogs, on the other hand, he has a somewhat harder time. Bobby decides strongly based on sympathy and would probably be happiest as an only dog. In a calm environment, without competition and without stress, he can show what a wonderful dog he is. Bobby is a dog who seeks closeness, trusts when given time, and bonds deeply with his people. He loves spending time with someone, being petted, and showing how valuable he is! Whoever offers him a foster home is accompanying a dog who, despite his past, is full of warmth and shows every day how much he appreciates life. Bobby is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped, and after a positive pre-screening he will be placed with a protection contract. General note about our animals: Our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can repeatedly assess their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us greatly in conveying as accurate a picture as possible of each individual dog. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that a dog may behave differently in a new environment, with new people, new routines, and new impressions. This is entirely normal and part of every process of change. Many dogs open up even faster at home and show sides that were not visible at the shelter. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations but are not a guarantee of any behavior in a new environment. They are meant to provide guidance and show how the dog presents himself at the shelter and what potential he has. We are convinced that with patience, understanding, and a loving environment, every dog can find his way and continue to develop positively.

Bobby, geb.

About Bobby

What life with Bobby looks like

Bobby is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bobby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bobby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bobby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bobby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Bobby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bobby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bobby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
