Bobby

Male · Adult · 6 years

Background Bobby was rescued from an abandoned café in April 2026 along with his mother Ina. After the café closed, the dogs were left behind and lived for an extended period under inadequate care in poor living conditions. Character Bobby is a gentle and affectionate male dog who can be shy at first. In an unfamiliar environment or around strangers, he observes the situation cautiously. However, he is not strongly suspicious and does not show aggressive behavior. Once Bobby has built trust, he shows his loving side very clearly. When he feels safe, he approaches on his own, seeks contact, leans in, or shows through his body language that he wants attention. He enjoys cuddles and expresses his affection more quietly and gently than extravagantly. Bobby has a low energy level and fits well with people who are looking for a quiet large dog to have by their side. He prefers to stay still near his attachment figures and enjoys a relaxed atmosphere. At the same time, he sometimes shows a bit of independence, as if he has his own little rules or routines. Overall, he is a stable, kind, and gentle dog who can build trust and develop a deep bond with time and patience. When one gets to know him slowly, he becomes more relaxed and secure in a stable relationship. Currently, Bobby lives problem-free with his mother Ina and shows a relaxed demeanor around her. A full integration with other dogs has not yet been thoroughly tested. Generally, he appears calm and kind, suggesting a gradual, controlled introduction with other dogs seems possible. However, he does not show this reaction towards his mother Ina, indicating he can be more relaxed with familiar dogs. Care should still be taken with food management and sufficient distance. During the rescue, Bobby had extensive swellings on his body filled with fluid, which were drained. No extensive swellings were found during castration. Due to very long claws, they are still deformed and should be monitored further. Additionally, Bobby is currently on a diet. Apart from that, he is doing well and making good progress. 🐾 For Bobby, we wish for a loving, quiet home with people who will give him time to build trust. He fits well with people looking for a gentle, more quiet large dog and are willing to meet him with patience, security, and clear routines. Link to pictures and videos of the dog:. About Bobby

What life with Bobby looks like

Bobby is a large adult dog waiting at German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. in Ebstorf.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bobby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bobby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bobby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bobby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bobby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bobby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bobby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
