Adopt BOBI

Mixed Breed · Male

BOBI probably ran away during a fireworks display, then found a temporary shelter between the rental houses of a housing estate. As is often the case, some people fed it, some threw stones at it, and prodded it with sticks, which it obviously did not tolerate. Although it did not hurt anyone, this was used as an excuse to call the lawn manger, who shot at it several times, unsuccessfully. Finally, its foster parent brought this shy but very kind, young (szi.: 2012.) boy to our dog shelter. Unfortunately, there is no chip in it, but the owner, if he wants to remain the owner, can take it from us. After two weeks, we recommend adoption, and until then we will take care of its vaccination and microchipping. Relatively large in size, looks like a wolf, a fox-like dog. It is currently on a leash, which it immediately accepted, gladly accepts petting, but you have to be careful when approaching it, because knowing the previous events, it may get scared. We are looking for a patient, caring owner.

About BOBI

What life with BOBI looks like

BOBI is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Gazdátlan Kutya Alapítvány in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting BOBI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BOBI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Gazdátlan Kutya Alapítvány handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BOBI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BOBI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Gazdátlan Kutya Alapítvány will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is BOBI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BOBI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Gazdátlan Kutya Alapítvány early rather than rehoming privately; they know BOBI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
