adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Bodo has found a home! His story: Bodo is an approximately 10-month-old, small male dog with a big heart – about 28 cm tall, 7 kg light, and full of joy. The little fighter was discovered together with his brother Piefke in a dangerous situation: The two were wandering around a construction site and kept running onto the street – they narrowly escaped an accident. It is likely they were recently abandoned there. Now, we wish for a safe, loving home for him. While his brother Piefke is more cautious, Bodo is the more outgoing member of the duo: He loves people and can't wait to get attention. As soon as he sees us, he begins to excitedly whine and is overjoyed by every pat. He is a very friendly, bashful little guy. He enjoys every minute with his people and can hardly get enough snuggles. However, he still needs to learn the basics of dog life – walking on a leash, being house-trained, understanding basic commands, and orienting himself in new situations. Bodo brings the best starting point for this: He wants to please, seeks closeness, and loves learning together with his person. Bodo is social with other dogs – his behavior with cats has not been tested yet. For Bodo, we wish people who will lovingly, patiently, and consistently explain the world to him. People who enjoy training, support him, but do not overwhelm him. Who will give this little charmer his new forever home? Bodo can travel from the end of August – neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He brings his EU Companion Animal Passport. Thank you, Birgit G.! Your sponsorship was the starting gun for a new life! As of: 28.07.

Stand: 28.07.2025

About Bodo

What life with Bodo looks like

Bodo is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bodo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bodo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bodo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bodo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bodo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bodo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bodo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
