Bola

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Bola - a smart, fluffy and cuddly dog. Bola has been with his foster family for several months now and is ready for his permanent home. He has developed wonderfully, continues to learn quickly and eagerly, and strongly relies on his person of attachment. Walks with him are relaxed, he loves sniffing games, his lick mat, and cuddling with his foster mother. In the enclosed off-lead area he reliably comes back and appears attentive and cheerful. Dog encounters on a leash usually go smoothly, sometimes he still reacts uncertainly - work is ongoing and he is making good progress. At the dog meet in the off-lead area he communicates and plays very well. Inside the house he occasionally startles at sudden situations and barks briefly, but can be easily addressed and calmed down. Overall, he is rather quiet and only briefly alerts to special situations. Bola gets along well with children, especially with a calm approach. He likes to play, takes treats carefully, and participates motivatedly in simple commands. At the same time, he enjoys retreat times in his basket, where he happily and contentedly lounges. Driving in the car is increasingly better and he also handles small city visits calmly. In stores he patiently waits in the sit or lies quietly down, and he also manages restaurant visits. In the office he lies nicely in his basket. Being alone still needs to be practiced, but short situations already work well. Bola is a sensitive, affectionate and eager-to-learn dog who seeks people who give him security and calmness. Whoever gives him the time to continue working with him on the path he has taken will get a smart, open-minded and loyal companion for life. Here you can find Bola's new video.

About Bola

What life with Bola looks like

Bola is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bola, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bola?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bola on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bola if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bola already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bola isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bola and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
