Tilly

Mixed Breed · Female

Tilly came to us after enduring five years in truly horrific conditions. Sadly, she arrived with the worst mouth we have ever seen in rescue. Her first weeks with us were all about rest, love, and giving her the chance to decompress from the life she’d known. She has since undergone major dental surgery and had all but three of her teeth removed. The relief on her little face afterwards was unmistakable. Since then, she’s been making up for lost time, enjoying her Lickits, gentle strokes, and spending peaceful days with her new feline friends. Tilly is a quiet, calm, golden soul of a cat who asks for so little. She has settled beautifully alongside all of the other cats, even those who weren’t quite as pleased to meet her at first. Her gentle nature is nothing short of remarkable. She truly embodies what rescue is all about. Although she’s still finding her confidence with people, Tilly has never shown a hint of aggression. She happily accepts gentle fuss and is growing braver with every passing day and we are 100% she will be a little lap cat in time. All she needs is a patient, understanding adopter who will let her continue to blossom at her own pace, along with some friendly resident cats to keep her company and help show her the way. Considering everything she has been through, her kindness and resilience are simply extraordinary. She could so easily have lost trust in the world, yet she remains nothing but gentle. Now that her dental treatment is behind her, Tilly has been fully health checked, blood tested (all clear), vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. At six years old, she is finally ready to find the loving home she has always deserved and begin the next chapter of her life. Tilly is looking for a calm, quiet adult home (children aged 12+ would be considered), with safe outdoor access via a cat flap and away from any busy main roads. Most importantly, she’s looking for people who will give her the time, patience, and love she’s waited so long for. She is still a very shy cat but we really don’t think that will be for long in the right home. We can honestly say you’ll struggle to meet a kinder cat than Tilly. There’s something truly special about this little girl, and we can’t wait for the right person to see what we see. She is available to meet in Chartham Hatch, Kent

About Tilly

What life with Tilly looks like

Tilly is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Flori in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tilly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tilly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Flori handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tilly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tilly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Flori will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tilly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tilly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Flori early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tilly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
