Bolek

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Bolek arrived with us from an intervention conducted at this breed animal shelter in Sobolew. From the very beginning, he shows that human contact is valuable to him. He seeks closeness, reacts with joy to the presence of the caregiver, and willingly approaches, maintaining eye contact. It’s clear that he has a need for relationships and is open to cooperation. In new situations, he can be cautious and slightly cautious, but quickly returns to equilibrium. He doesn’t maintain long-term tension—rather, he shows curiosity and a desire to check if the world can indeed be in order. In relationships with other dogs, he is selective. He accepts certain individuals, preferably calm and good at communicating. With proper introduction, he can function well in the company of other dogs, but he is not the type to befriend everyone. Key is a calm introduction and respecting his boundaries. Bolek is a dog with the potential to quickly build a strong bond with the caregiver.

Bolek przyjechał do nas z interwencji przeprowadzonej w schronisku w Sobolewie. Od pierwszych dni pokazuje, że kontakt z człowiekiem jest dla niego wartością. Szuka bliskości, reaguje radością na obecność opiekuna, chętnie podchodzi, utrzymuje kontakt wzrokowy. Widać w nim potrzebę relacji i gotowość do współpracy. Akceptuje wybrane osobniki, najlepiej spokojne i czytelne komunikacyjnie.

About Bolek

What life with Bolek looks like

Bolek is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Skałowo in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bolek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bolek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Skałowo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bolek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bolek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Skałowo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bolek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bolek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Skałowo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bolek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
