Bolt

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Breed: Foxterrier-mixed-breed male dog Age: born ca. 01/2024 Hello, I am Bolt – your little whirlwind! I was born in January 2024 and am about 35 cm tall… When you look at me, it is unmistakable that some Terriers are definitely mixed into my ancestry… Perhaps like my famous namesake from the Disney movie, a real hero might be hiding in me: always on the move, always ready for the next adventure… Stand still? That’s not me. Spin, jump, run – I love them all, preferably all at once! I can learn to be still, but I am what true Terrier fans would love… I live happily with other dogs, but I can be a bit too enthusiastic at times… My enthusiasm is contagious – or it might push more laid-back dog buddies to their limits… I am full of energy and joy – sitting still is simply not my thing! People love me over everything. Snuggling is the greatest for me! Every pat is joyfully received, and I would love to be as close to my people as possible… I used to be a stray and have secured a free sleeping spot with food here – today, I am mainly: an energetic whirlwind with a lot of charm. I wish for active people or a sporty family who are eager for movement, play, and mental stimulation and who meet my temperament with joy… A cool group of buddies with whom I can run, play, and spin would be great… And for a cozy dog bed or even better, a sofa where I can be right by your side, I would give anything… So, if you are looking for a cheerful, lively companion who turns every day into a little adventure and gets your life in motion, I am the one for you… Ready for your personal superhero dog? I am waiting for you! Before I travel to my new home, I will still be neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. If you want to adopt me, please contact my foster.

About Bolt

What life with Bolt looks like

Bolt is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. in Hamburg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bolt, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bolt?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bolt on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bolt if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bolt already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bolt isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bolt and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
