Feenya

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Feenya has been living at our animal shelter for several years. Feenya was classified as "dangerous in individual cases" according to the Saxon Dangerous Dog Act due to an incident with a previous owner. However, a procedure to lift the dangerousness is currently underway. In the event of success, it would mean that it would no longer be necessary to prove the dog's good behavior. Interested parties who do not have a good behavior certificate can therefore feel free to contact us. Outside of its property, Feenya must currently wear a muzzle, but it is well accustomed to it. Whether this would also be lifted with a potential lifting of the dangerousness is unknown, but given its size and breed, we would always recommend a muzzle, as it does not impair her. The pretty female dog is a typical herding dog: she is cuddly, obedient, and friendly towards her trusted people; she shows herself reserved and suspicious towards strangers. With patience and time, one can win her trust, which she gives to women faster than to men. But it is worth sticking with her… 😉 Whoever takes Feenya in will receive a loyal companion who protects the family and the property, ensuring that no one enters without permission. This means for the owners that they must make it clear to Feenya who is allowed to enter the territory and that the female dog can be secured during visits. Kangals are brave dogs that were bred to protect the (sheep) herd entrusted to them from four- and two-legged attackers. This heritage is carried by every dog of this breed, regardless of whether they are at home in the Anatolian mountains or in the middle of Germany. We are looking for responsible and experienced new owners with securely fenced property to finally give our Feenya the home she needs. The behavior in family placement can therefore differ from the descriptions.

DE·Show original

Feenya lebt schon seit mehreren Jahren in unserem Tierheim.

About Feenya

What life with Feenya looks like

Feenya is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Zwickau in Zwickau.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Feenya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Feenya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Zwickau handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Feenya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Feenya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Zwickau will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Feenya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Feenya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Zwickau early rather than rehoming privately; they know Feenya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
