Adopt Bolyka

Male · Adult · 5 years

Hometown: Hungary Another surrendered dog is the handsome Bolyka. The owners could no longer or did not want to take care of him and brought him to the our shelter on January 20, 2022. Unfortunately, another dog on the list, whose chance to find a wonderful home is rather slim. But we are crossing our fingers that he will soon be exchanged for a loving home. Bolyka is not only beautiful but has a wonderful character. He is an agile, loving, friendly, and people-oriented four-legged friend. A dog in his prime, who finally wants to explore and discover the world. He is very attached to people and loves it when they give him attention and affection. Bolyka is a curious and eager learner and is happy when his new people continue to lovingly teach him the basics of dog training, challenge and support him, and give him species-appropriate exercise. How he gets along with his fellow animals will be tested soon, and an update will follow. For our listed Bolyka, we are looking for dog-experienced and adventure-loving dog friends who can make up for lost time with him and offer him a happy and varied life. Exciting walks, lots of cuddling and snuggling, dog-appropriate exercise, clear leadership, and people who stick with him thick and thin, that is what we wish from the bottom of our hearts for our Bolyka. Update from September 19, 2023 Bolyka and Minerva-2: Animal shelter staff Istvan has been working with the two dogs, and they are now playing together on the playground, which is going well. On January 20, 2025, a volunteer, a Hungarian helper, writes: "Bolyka was surrendered to the animal shelter three years ago at the age of 1.5 years because his owners could no longer take care of him. Bolyka was taken for a walk by his engaged mentor on the Mentoring Day. When the walk finally began at the gates of the animal shelter, it was clear that Bolyka was happy that someone was taking care of him and that he could walk and sniff as he wanted. It was obvious that he was very happy. He loves people, likes children, and is a love-starved, friendly, and lovable dog. He walked nicely on the leash, he was attentive to his leader, and he tried to please. They were alone on the walk, but according to his mentor, he showed interest in the other dogs on the street. Active, lively, and agile as he is, he needs daily exercise, playful activities, and human closeness. No wonder it is hard for him to wait in his kennel. Bolyka's life so far has not been happy, but we hope that from now on, everything will get better. He is waiting for his own owner, with whom he can finally move in as a permanent part of the family. He needs a lot of love, respect, care, and attention. He should spend as much time as possible with his family, go on excursions, and collect happy experiences. He needs a patient, supportive upbringing and the same patience and understanding for the time of adjustment." Who can show Bolyka what is in him? Bolyka is travel-ready. Since Bolyka is a list mix, you need to inform yourself about your community's housing conditions regarding him if you are interested. We thank Susanne Fassbind very warmly for taking over the sponsorship of Bolyka.

Wem darf Bolyka zeigen, was in ihm steckt?

About Bolyka

What life with Bolyka looks like

Bolyka is a adult dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bolyka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bolyka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bolyka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bolyka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bolyka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bolyka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bolyka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
