Adopt Bonbón

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Day after day, Bombón lived outside – in the heat, the cold, the rain, and the darkness. People from a small town had to watch as this beautiful dog was neglected and mistreated by his owner. Often, he would sit alone in front of the house, without shelter, affection, or love. But Bombón had luck: an attentive neighbor could no longer bear his suffering and informed engaged animal welfare workers. Together, they decided to help him and give him a chance at a better life. With much patience and care, Bombón slowly gained trust. The helpers fed him and showed him affection daily until the big day came when they could bring him to safety. From the first moment, Bombón showed his wonderful character: calm, gentle, and full of gratitude. He allowed himself to be led into the house, enjoyed every pat, and seemed to realize for the first time what security feels like. Even the trip to the animal shelter was exemplary for him. During the photoshoot, he was relaxed, attentive, and incredibly charming. Bombón is a noble, young dog with a gentle soul. Despite everything he experienced, he has not lost his trust in people. And that is why we now wish him what he probably never had: a real home. People who love him, respect him, and show him that his life can now be full of warmth and security.

About Bonbón

What life with Bonbón looks like

Bonbón is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bonbón, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bonbón?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bonbón on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bonbón if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bonbón already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bonbón isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bonbón and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
