Boncuk

German Shorthaired Pointer · Male · Senior · 9 years

Boncuk – the curious German Spitz, brown, male, 2 kg, 20 cm, not neutered, 1st July 2017. Dear friends of small dogs, I am Boncuk (almost 2 kg and about 20 cm shoulder height) and I am waiting in the Berner Tierzentrum for a quiet and cozy place. Unfortunately, my previous owner could no longer care for me due to health reasons. Therefore, I had to move to the animal center reluctantly. Although such a change was not easy for me, I am now ready to look forward and find a home where I can arrive. Despite my 9 years, I am still an active, curious and lively little dog. I like to walk with my head held high and want to discover a lot. I am initially reserved with strangers. I need some time to trust someone. But if I feel that someone means well, I open up and enjoy the closeness of my humans. I am a small dog with character and can definitely show when something doesn't please me. Especially with other dogs, it depends on sympathy. I get along well with some and less well with others. Therefore, I wish for a home alone or with a suitable second dog with whom I get along well. Being alone is not always easy for me. When I'm alone, I feel uncomfortable and start barking. My future people should therefore have understanding for this and be willing to work on it with me step by step. I am also not a quiet passenger in the car, as I never really got to know this. Since I am 9 years old, I am already an older gentleman and have some health issues that have yet to come and be treated. Currently, I am still a bit thin and look a bit unkempt, but don't worry, this is already being worked on and I am being lovingly cared for. My coat should be groomed daily so that it stays nice and fluffy and no tangles form. In case of serious interest, you will of course be informed about everything that needs to be considered with me. For my home, I wish for a quiet home where I can take relaxed walks and discover the world sniffing. Of course, also with a suitable companion by my side. I need people who give me the time I need to arrive, accept my little quirks and show me loving boundaries. I guarantee that we will become a great team and I look forward to getting to know you. To arrange a meeting with me, simply fill out the application form. Thank you! I look forward to getting to know you. – Your Boncuk Country of origin (where the dog is currently located): Switzerland Breed country: Russia

Vielen Dank! Ich freue mich auf unser Kennenlernen. – Ihr Boncuk Herkunftsland (wo sich der Hund momentan aufhält): Schweiz Zuchtland: Russland Diesen Beitrag teilen

About Boncuk

What life with Boncuk looks like

Boncuk is a medium-sized senior german shorthaired pointer dog waiting at Berner Tierzentrum in Switzerland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Boncuk, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Boncuk?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Berner Tierzentrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Boncuk on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Boncuk if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Berner Tierzentrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Boncuk already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Boncuk isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Berner Tierzentrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know Boncuk and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
