Spiderella

German Shorthaired Pointer · Female · Senior · 14 years

Spiderella came to the animal shelter with Casanova. She is active and always gets excited when there's something to eat. Spiderella suffers from the Wobbler Syndrome (more specifically, this will be explained later), but currently shows no symptoms. It's important for her to work calmly and less is more. Because too much stress can trigger symptoms. Otherwise, she spends a lot of time in the caves and does well during regular check-ups. Spiderella wishes for a spot with python enthusiasts who are passionate about kings.

About Spiderella

What life with Spiderella looks like

Spiderella is a medium-sized senior german shorthaired pointer animal waiting at Zürcher Tierschutz in Zürich.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Spiderella far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

Note from the shelter: Wobbler Syndrome - requires stress-free environment and careful handling to prevent symptom onset

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Spiderella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Spiderella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Zürcher Tierschutz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Spiderella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Spiderella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Zürcher Tierschutz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Spiderella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Spiderella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Zürcher Tierschutz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Spiderella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
