Bonito (m)

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

A great dog, very sensitive, whom we got to know ourselves in Romania. "Got to know," because he is particularly special, a bit shy, but if he senses that you don't want to harm him, then the wonderful Bonito opens up and you get lost in that moment 🥹 🍃 BONITO was brought to Dana in winter 2022 with his siblings and has been living in her private animal shelter in Romania ever since. 🍃 Unfortunately, another one of those dogs who were overlooked as a puppy and eventually had to move into the kennel area 😞 He became increasingly shy, built up a protective shield. But in the last few weeks, his caregivers have been working with him—always just a few minutes, because there simply isn't more time. But it was very clear very quickly that Bonito just wants someone to take care of him, to give him courage 🥹 🍃 From a character perspective, BONITO is the quiet and gentle guy. He doesn't need to be in the spotlight. If you take care of him, he can't really believe his luck. If he's not in line, he waits and doesn't demand anything. Bonito gets along well with other dogs, but he doesn't need them. 🍃 Bonito knows almost only life in the kennel. Occasionally, he is allowed to the outdoor area, but that is unfortunately not often possible. Bonito must learn life outside of Romania from the ground up. 🫟 Born: Winter 2022 🫟 Can be tested for cats. 🫟 quiet, a bit shy Just for Bonito, we wish for a quiet home without drama. He must first learn that the world is not chaos, that he is safe, and can let go. An only dog can be on-site, but doesn't have to. 💜 BONITO will leave Romania neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed with the Snap 4d Test. He will be rehomed with V. Our dogs come to 91278 Pottenstein and would also like to be picked up there. All our dogs travel with official Trace papers and of course, we also have Paragraph 11.

About Bonito (m)

What life with Bonito (m) looks like

Bonito (m) is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bonito (m), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bonito (m)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bonito (m) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bonito (m) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bonito (m) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bonito (m) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bonito (m) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
