Adopt Bonito

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Profile Age: born in 2020. Sex: male. Neutered: yes Character: friendly, calm, very social with other dogs Size: approx. 45 cm At the shelter since: May 2023 They say I’m a dog of a very special kind. I’m naturally caring and affectionate. Even though I’m in this difficult situation myself, I put the needs of others above my own, especially when it comes to the little ones among us. Recently, I had the good fortune to share my kennel with some sweet puppies for a while. It was simply heart-melting to see them toddle around me and follow me with their tiny paws. From the very first moment, I felt a deep connection to those little fluffballs. With gentle devotion, I played with them and hopefully was a good friend to them. It was a wonderful time. But now the puppies have moved on, and I miss them very much. For me, it was an experience that opened my heart. I continue to show my very friendly and outgoing nature, with both four-legged and two-legged friends. Because that’s what makes us dogs special: our unconditional love and care for other living beings. Are you looking for such a wonderful companion? Then please get in touch! If you are interested in Bonito, please fill out our inquiry form () or send us an email or a message via Facebook. Bonito is ready to travel and can come to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces is the database system used to monitor all animal movements within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and they have an EU pet passport. Additionally, for dogs aged 12 months and older, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is carried out before travel arrangements: Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, ehrlichiosis, heartworm disease, and leishmaniasis. Katja S. has taken on the sponsorship for Bonito, ensuring a full bowl. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

Steckbrief Alter: 2020 geboren.

About Bonito

What life with Bonito looks like

Bonito is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bonito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bonito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bonito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bonito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bonito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bonito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bonito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
