Bonnie

Shar Pei · Female · Puppy · 9 months

Meet Bonnie, an amazing young girl full of character and enthusiasm! She absolutely adores spending time with people she knows and will happily show off her giddy, wiggly and wonderfully excitable side. She’s a very social girl who enjoys the company of both people and dogs, and having canine friends will be a great outlet for her. Bonnie will benefit from continuing to learn when it’s time for fun and excitement and when it’s time to switch off and relax. She’ll enjoy learning new skills and having fun with mind games to keep her busy. With the right family, Bonnie will be a joyful addition to the home. Bonnie is a wonderful girl who will flourish with adopters who have plenty of time to devote to her and can provide a consistent routine. She can be sensitive in some situations, so allowing her to take things at her own pace and building her confidence through gradual, positive experiences will be important. A couple of meets at the centre will be required to start building a relationship and for our team to show the training already in place. Bonnie would be best suited to living with teenagers and, as she is social with other dogs, could share her home with another doggy friend. She is housetrained, although time alone will need to be built up gradually while she settles in. A home with a garden would be lovely for relaxing on the grass and enjoying playtime with her favourite toys.

About Bonnie

What life with Bonnie looks like

Bonnie is a puppy/kitten shar pei dog waiting at Dogs Trust Darlington in Sadberge.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bonnie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bonnie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Darlington handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bonnie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bonnie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Darlington will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bonnie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bonnie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Darlington early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bonnie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
