Bony

Female · Young · 3 years

Age: 6 years (25.10.20193 years (7.7.2022) Weight: 11 kg (spayed female dog) Bony is a shih-tzu mix female dog who lost her original owner, whom she was strongly bonded to and accustomed only to. At first, she was very scared and reacted with hysteria, which is completely understandable given her situation – she even bit out of fear. Today, she has gradually adapted to her new environment and is making great progress. She is a sweet and affectionate female dog who enjoys coming for petting and knows how to enjoy human closeness, but only with people she knows. However, she is still cautious around strangers and occasionally shows her teeth when she doesn't feel secure. With a patient and calm approach, she can be won over – she just needs time to get to know the person. Therefore, multiple visits by the future owner would be ideal. Otherwise, Bony has always been clean and walks well. Testing contact with other dogs is still possible, but she hasn't reacted negatively to them yet; she is more confused and uncertain about the new situation. For Bony, a quiet and patient home without small children would be suitable, ideally in a quieter environment where no pressure will be exerted on her. She would fit well with a quieter person or a senior who can give her the time and security she needs. If Bony has caught your interest, please fill out the adoption application, and we will contact you back. Note: The description of the dog is based on its behavior shortly after arrival at the shelter. We strive to place the dogs in the adoption program as soon as possible so they can start their search for a new home. However, the dog's behavior may change over the course of their stay with us, so we try to keep the information and descriptions up to date. Our time slots are limited, so the descriptions may not always reflect the current status immediately. Please also keep in mind that the dog's behavior may be different in a home environment compared to the shelter.

Pokud vás Bony zaujala, prosíme o vyplnění adopčního dotazníku a my vás budeme zpětně kontaktovat.

About Bony

What life with Bony looks like

Bony is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Útulek Dogsy in Czech Republic.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Czech shelters (útulky) include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID. The adopter signs a written contract (smlouva) — the shelter may follow up to verify wellbeing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bony, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bony?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Útulek Dogsy handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bony on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bony if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Útulek Dogsy will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bony already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bony isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Útulek Dogsy early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bony and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
