Borowik

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Borowik, a beautiful and well-cared-for tomcat, has undergone a significant transformation since he was taken in by the Przytul Kota Foundation in November of last year. When we first received him, he was a malnourished, severely infested, and emaciated kitten with no trust in humans. He was a typical wild cat. However, months of careful care, restoring his health, a full bowl, frequent games, and patient attempts to establish a relationship have brought real results. Today, Borowik is a beautiful, well-groomed tomcat who has become accustomed to the presence of humans. He still shows his character, however. Even in the first weeks of his stay under our care, when he kept his distance from us, he didn't seem like a fearful cat. Life in the wild taught him that he had to be tough and, in case of danger, even aggressive. Something of these difficult life lessons remains in Borowik to this day. He is a clearly dominant type of cat. He has managed to form friendships with other cats, but if one doesn't appeal to him, he can also show his claws and attack. If he were to be paired with another cat, it would be necessary to carefully select the characters and temperaments. When Borowik feels safe, he gets to know the space around him and gets used to it, he can show his cuddly side. However, he needs some time, patience, and respect for the boundaries he sets. Borowik is ready for adoption. He was born in late 2024. He is a young, healthy cat. During his stay under our care, we were also able to bring his teeth in order. The tomcat is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. We are looking for a home where his character will be respected and appreciated. We want him to lead a long and safe life, so we require that the new owner be a non-outdoor home with adequate window and balcony security. If you would like to learn more about this beautiful tomcat or are considering his adoption, please fill out the pre-adoption questionnaire: pl/ankieta-przedadopcyjna/ After receiving it, we will contact you. Borowik is currently in Mruczarni in Słowik (Łódź province). If you cannot adopt Borowik, you can help him virtually. Simply write an email to: wirtualki.pl and declare monthly support (minimum 30 zł). This will greatly help us in further care for him.

📩 Borowik przebywa obecnie w Mruczarni w Słowiku (woj. łódzkie). 🐾🏡❤️ A jeśli nie możesz adoptować Borowika, możesz pomóc mu wirtualnie 💛 Wystarczy napisać maila na adres: wirtualki. pl i zadeklarować comiesięczne wsparcie (minimum 30 zł). Ogromnie pomoże nam to w dalszej opiece nad nim 🐱

About Borowik

What life with Borowik looks like

Borowik is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at PrzytulKota in Poland.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adopters usually cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Borowik, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Borowik?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. PrzytulKota handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Borowik on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Borowik if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — PrzytulKota will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Borowik already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Borowik isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with PrzytulKota early rather than rehoming privately; they know Borowik and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
