Borys

Male · Senior · 9 years

5 years ago Borys lost his home. The memory of his past life still makes Borys need a moment to trust strange ladies and a bit more time and commitment to trust gentlemen. He has a growing group of friends, devoted fans who really like him and charm by wagging their tail when greeting. He plays the serious, sometimes even stubborn, but is ready to make compromises for his person. He is a cheerful dog, full of jokes, loves toys, water, cars and contact with people. We are convinced that once getting to know him better, he will win someone's heart forever! The neglect of puppy age and the years on the shelter concrete unfortunately left their mark on Boris's body and he occasionally requires check-ups and treatments to improve his quality of life with the veterinarian. Borys is under the care of an orthopedist, has had arthroscopy of the elbow joints, joint injections in the hip joints and is generally in good shape, but is not a sporty walker. Of course he would love to go on long walks by the water, but by car, which he loves! In addition to the limitations due to his health condition, it should be mentioned that Borys is very afraid of gunshots. In the area of our animal shelter, gunshots are a daily occurrence due to the airport runway and the need to scare birds. Therefore, there are entire days and weeks when Borys is completely unable to go for a walk. This further reduces his existence here. It would be easier for Boris and his caregiver outside the city, so we are looking for someone who appreciates slow walks through the wilderness and does not mind that every walk ends with a bath in a random water body. 😊 Borys does not like other dogs, but likes cats and squirrels... to chase. Due to his considerable build and joint problems, he should not be forced to climb a lot of stairs every day. [Relation]() from the Adopt Warsaw Dog action. 5 lat temu Borys stracił swój dom. Pamięć o dawnym życiu nadal sprawia, że Borys potrzebuje chwili, by zaufać nieznajomym paniom i trochę więcej czasu i zaangażowania, by zaufać panom. About Borys

What life with Borys looks like

Borys is a extra-large senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Requires ongoing orthopedic veterinary care due to joint issues from prolonged shelter confinement. Has had arthroscopy on elbow and hip joints.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Borys, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Borys?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Borys on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Borys if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Borys already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Borys isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Borys and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
