Botas

Belgian Malinois · Female · Young · 2 years

Botas is looking for a stable and experienced home. Botas is a Malinois dog currently living in a Spanish animal shelter. When she arrived in December 2025, she had a broken leg, which has now been operated on. The healing process is going well, and Botas has bravely handled this time both physically and mentally. After the operation, she temporarily stayed with a foster family. There, she showed herself to be very people-oriented, friendly, and affectionate, clearly enjoying close contact with her caregivers. However, it also became clear at the foster home that Botas does not get along well with cats and small dogs. With medium to large dogs - both males and females - there were no problems, according to the foster family. Due to this limitation, she had to return to the animal shelter. Currently, Botas is back in a small kennel, which is anything but ideal for a young, active Malinois dog. The lack of movement, structure, and social contact causes additional stress and unnecessarily hinders her further recovery, which is why we hope Botas does not have to wait too long for a new home. As a Malinois, Botas brings typical energy, sensitivity, and willingness to work. Belgian Shepherds need clear leadership, regular physical exercise, and above all mental stimulation. They are demanding dogs that require a stable environment, reliable people, and a conscious approach to responsibility. Because we know nothing about Botas' background, it's better for interested parties to assume that she still has a lot to learn to find her way in an everyday life outside the shelter. Patience, time, and realistic expectations are particularly important. For Botas, we are looking for a home with experienced people who can offer her peace and security, but also adventure and plenty of shared activities. Then the sweetie can finally start the dog life she so deserves! Here is Botas' video. If you are aware of what comes with adopting a shelter dog, and have fallen for the rescue, please contact the assigned adoption officer of SALVA Dog Help. We would also be very grateful, and especially Botas, if you could provide a foster home!

About Botas

What life with Botas looks like

Botas is a medium-sized young adult belgian malinois dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Botas, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Botas?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Botas on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Botas if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Botas already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Botas isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Botas and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
