Adopt Boti

Podenco · Female · Young · 1 year

GPAR: Input 5 March 2026: Boti was rescued by the local police after a caring person reported that they had seen her tied up 24/7. Boti's story: She was a puppy. She should have been chasing butterflies, tumbling through grass, and learning the world with bright, fearless curiosity. Instead, her world was the length of a rope and a tight collar. At first she pulled, thinking it was a mistake. It bit into her skin. It burned. The coat disappeared and was replaced by a red line. As she grew - like puppies do - the collar didn't loosen. It got tighter. After a while, she stopped pulling. Her world became a small, worn circle of earth. No shadow when the sun shone brightly. No shelter when rain soaked her thin coat. Her water bowl tipped easily. Sometimes it stayed empty. But she still wagged her tail. When footsteps came closer, she wagged. When someone looked her way, she wagged. Because she didn't understand neglect. She only understood hope. The wounds around her neck deepened, healed, and tore again. Flies gathered. She learned to lie very still. Until one afternoon another sound reached her. A car door. Hands from the local police officer gently touched her, not to tie or pull, but to check. He cut the rope in seconds and let it fall to the ground. Freedom felt strange. The air on her wounded neck felt strange. Boti took an uncertain step, then another - further than she had ever been allowed to go. Boti wagged her tail again. Not because she was tied up. But because she wasn't. The local officer brought her to our rescue center where she was treated for her wounds around her neck; she was very thin and malnourished. Boti learned in the following months that life could be fun, and that not all people are cruel. After initially being nervous about the other dogs at the animal shelter, Boti is now settled in life and has become a very happy and affectionate dog who loves cuddles and ear massages from our volunteers. She walks very well with a harness and lead. As a young dog, Boti is enthusiastic about being outdoors, so she often pulls back and forth, but we work with her to learn how to walk. She is very good with traffic, various sounds, and people on the street when she goes out twice a week with our volunteers. Boti tested positive for Erlichia, for which she received treatment, and the last test was negative. Because she likes to play with the children who visit, we think Boti would benefit from a young family, with or without other dogs at home. She loves to play and has lots of energy, so she keeps the whole family young and fit. Even more, Boti fits into any family that would show her love and give her cuddles.... Are you that family? We would love for her to find a loving and caring home where she can just be free.

Boti is positief getest op o.a.

About Boti

What life with Boti looks like

Boti is a medium-sized young adult podenco dog waiting at description in AL Ridderkerk.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Boti, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Boti?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. description handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Boti on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Boti if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — description will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Boti already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Boti isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with description early rather than rehoming privately; they know Boti and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
