Adopt Bowie-2

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Hometown: Spain Bowie is a stunning dog with an striking blue eye – just like his namesake David Bowie. He came to us from another animal shelter, which had closed down. He is a sensitive, somewhat cautious male dog who, unfortunately, did not have optimal experiences with people in his previous life. Despite this, Bowie desperately wants to build trust and form friendships. Once he has trust, he enjoys closeness and cuddles very much. In the animal shelter, Bowie shares his run with Livy, with whom he gets along excellently. When Livy goes for a walk, Bowie always wants to come along. She gives him security and strengthens his self-confidence. On the leash, he runs well, but still pulls a bit, which would benefit from further, loving training. Bowie could live well in a home with a calm, confident dog, ideally a female. A single placement is also possible if there is enough time, patience, and empathy. Unfortunately, Bowie got injured in the animal shelter when his leg got stuck in a water pipe. The femur head dislocated from the hip. He was successfully operated on, but it is likely he will limp slightly for the rest of his life. Until he fully recovers, he is housed in a run alone. Bowie is still shy and unsure, but has already made progress. We are looking for understanding people who can teach Bowie the whole dog ABC with patience, time, and experience and give him a loving home. In his last two blood tests, Bowie tested positive for leishmaniasis. However, he was successfully and intensively treated twice with miltefon and responded very well to the therapy. Currently, he is receiving preventive treatment with allopurinol until January 2026, which, as expected, shows very good results. Additionally, Bowie had been treated for tick-borne diseases that were transmitted earlier, which have been fully treated.

About Bowie-2

What life with Bowie-2 looks like

Bowie-2 is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bowie-2, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bowie-2?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bowie-2 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bowie-2 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bowie-2 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bowie-2 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bowie-2 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
