Adopt Bowie

Beagle · Male · Young · 1 year

Bowie is about one year old, medium sized dog of beagle type. Bowie came to the animal shelter along with his larger, probably brother - Ziggie. However, we do not know their history. Bowie as a young dog likes to actively spend time, most happily on long walks with a person, where he can freely explore the world, keeping his nose to the ground. He does not forget, however, that he is not alone and sometimes interrupts his dog matters to appreciate human company. Bowie gets along very well with other dogs and takes every opportunity to play with them. He communicates very nicely with them and tries to match the energy of his dog friends. He especially values those ready for dog games, but with a calmer companion he can take care of himself. We had the opportunity to take him on a car trip, during which he proved to be an ideal passenger. Bowie visited with us a house where there was a cat. He was very curious, actively interested in the cat and had a positive attitude. Of course, this is not a guarantee of good cat-dog relationships, but it certainly gives a lot of potential with reasonable human supervision. During the visit to the house, Bowie also demonstrated impeccable dog manners. He was calm, quiet, stayed close to people and sometimes even calmly fell asleep when he found hands to pet him. We believe that Bowie will do well both in the city and its outskirts. He may have dog siblings, and we would even recommend such an option; there is also a chance for a cat.

Bowie to około roczny, średniej wielkości pies w typie beagle.

About Bowie

What life with Bowie looks like

Bowie is a medium-sized young adult beagle dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bowie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bowie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bowie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bowie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bowie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bowie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bowie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
