Bozok

Male Β· Young Β· 2 years

Bozok is a young, handsome Anatolian Shepherd with a big heart for the people he trusts. Once he knows you, his soft and playful character really comes out. He loves attention, cuddles, and being cozy together, and can sometimes be a real attention seeker ;). Bozok has a lot of energy, loves to play, and builds a strong bond with his trusted people. Bozok is a powerful dog who still needs further guidance. During walks, he is strong on the leash and very reactive to other dogs. Therefore, an environment with many other dogs present is not suitable for him. We are therefore looking for a quiet, stable home without other dogs, with people who have experience with strong dog breeds and are willing to continue working with him. Not suitable for homes with other dogs.

NLΒ·Show original

About Bozok

What life with Bozok looks like

Bozok is a large young adult dog waiting at Dierenasiel Gent in Gent.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡§πŸ‡ͺAdopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bozok, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bozok?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Gent handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bozok on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bozok if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dierenasiel Gent will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Bozok already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bozok isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Gent early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bozok and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
