Personality: Brad is a sweet dog who needs time and patience to further develop at his own pace. In his "own bubble" - at home with the people he knows and trusts - he is already very confident. In new situations, he still needs good guidance; he does not always clearly show this. Therefore, an adopter who understands dog language well is ideal. Brad has already taken many nice steps in his development with his foster family! Brad is a smart dog who would probably really enjoy doing things with his new owners once he gets used to it. Think of tracking / mantrailing, brain work for dogs, or something else where he can use his nose and brain well and work together with his owner(s). Moreover, he is a nice dog to go for walks with in nature. And then, when returning home, relaxing together on the couch. 🥰 Behavior at home: Brad is an adventurous, energetic male who really likes to explore the house. Brad is a reasonably independent dog and can amuse himself well. He likes to play, both alone and with other dogs. Sometimes he tosses toys around, or pulls off hilarious stunts. When he gets tired, he prefers to sleep close to one of his housemates - he makes no distinction between people and dogs. He is currently staying in a place without cats, but does not react to them outside. We expect that he could potentially live with cats that are used to dogs. Brad would be extremely happy with one or more other dogs in the house, he really bonds with the other dog in the foster family. He is still a bit unrestrained with other dogs, as befits a real pup. Therefore, we prefer not to place him with a vulnerable or older dog. Visitors find Brad a bit exciting, when new people come in he barks. If this is handled properly, he quickly calms down and lies down calmly. Of course, our team is happy to give advice on this. Brad has not really been alone yet, but remains calm in the crate when his foster family leaves the room for a moment. He is now completely house trained and also sleeps through the night. Behavior outside: Brad walks fantastically on a leash and does not pull. He is still sensitive, so he currently only walks on quiet places with his foster family. He is already doing this well and getting better, but still needs some guidance. The videos further down this page give a good impression. As the only dog, he needs more support from his foster mother; when other dogs are also there, he is more confident. Although he loves the other dogs in the foster family, he is still unsure of unknown dogs outside (sometimes). On February 21, there was a walk organized with an unknown social dog for Brad. That went excellently! Such arranged meetings are perfect for building Brad's confidence in dealing with other dogs. Also, unknown people are still a bit exciting for Brad. He is curious but watches from a distance. That is perfectly fine with us. When someone extends a hand, he wants to sniff it, but being petted is a step too far. If he experiences too much commotion around him, he wants to go by quickly.

Brad is een slim hondje dat het - na gewenning - waarschijnlijk erg leuk zou vinden om samen met zijn nieuwe eigenaren wat te gaan doen. Denk dan aan speuren / mantrailing, hersenwerk voor honden, of iets anders waar hij zijn neus en brein goed voor kan gebruiken én samenwerkt met zijn baasje(s). Bovendien is hij een fijne hond om wandelingen mee te maken in de natuur. En dan bij thuiskomst, lekker samen chillen op de bank.🥰 Gedrag in huis: Brad is een ondernemend, energiek mannetje dat ontzettend graag op onderzoek gaat in huis. Brad is een redelijk zelfstandig hondje en kan zichzelf ook prima vermaken. Hij speelt graag, zowel alleen als met andere honden. Soms gooit hij met speeltjes, of haalt hilarische capriolen uit. Wanneer hij moe wordt slaapt hij het liefste dicht tegen een van zijn huisgenoten aan - hierin maakt hij geen onderscheid tussen mensen en honden. Hij verblijft nu op een plek zonder katten, maar reageert er buiten niet op. We verwachten dat hij eventueel kan samenwonen met katten die honden gewend zijn. Brad zou ontzettend blij worden van een of meerdere andere honden in huis, hij trekt zich heel erg op aan de andere hond in het gastgezin. Hij is nog wel wat ongeremd met andere honden, zoals het een echte pup betaamd. Daarom plaatsen we hem liever niet bij een kwetsbare of oudere hond. Bezoek vindt Brad nog wat spannend, wanneer nieuwe mensen binnenkomen dan blaft hij. Als hier goed mee omgegaan wordt kalmeert hij snel en gaat rustig liggen. Natuurlijk is ons team graag bereid om hierover adviezen te geven. Brad is nog niet echt alleen geweest, maar blijft wel rustig in de bench als zijn gastgezin even de kamer uit is. Hij is inmiddels helemaal zindelijk en slaapt 's nachts ook door. Gedrag buiten: Brad loopt fantastisch aan de lijn en trekt niet. Hij is nog wel prikkelgevoelig, dus loopt zijn gastgezin vooralsnog alleen op rustige plekken. Dit doet hij al goed en steeds beter, maar hij heeft daarin nog wel begeleiding nodig. De filmpjes verder naar onderen op deze pagina geven een goed beeld. Als enige hond heeft hij meer steun nodig van zijn gastmoeder; wanneer de andere honden ook mee zijn, is hij meer zelfverzekerd. Hoewel hij dol is op de andere honden in het gastgezin wordt hij van onbekende honden buiten (soms) nog onzeker. Op 21 februari is er een wandeling georganiseerd met een voor Brad onbekend sociaal hondje. Dat ging uitstekend! Zulke gearrangeerde ontmoetingen zijn perfect om Brad's vertrouwen in de omgang met andere honden verder op te bouwen. Ook onbekende mensen zijn nog wat spannend voor Brad. Hij is wel nieuwsgierig maar kijkt het vanaf een afstandje aan. Dat is natuurlijk prima, vinden wij. Als iemand een hand uitsteekt wil hij er wel aan snuffelen, maar geaaid worden gaat nog een stapje te ver. Als hij teveel drukte om zich heen ervaart dan wil hij er graag snel voorbij.
