Frizzle

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

For a detailed explanation, please read Why We Are Cautious About Placing Foreign Dogs with Families with Small Children. Information: In early June 2026, we received a message from Elisa: "A little girl found in the field tonight 🥺." This turned out to be a small Frizzle. Elisa picked her up and cared for her, and she is now housed in a kennel run at Elisa's animal shelter. Frizzle has so far come across as a loving and cautious little dog. The videos on this page give an idea of her. In the kennel run, it's still a big adjustment for Frizzle; she is very stressed there. That's why we hope she can travel to the Netherlands soon. During the spaying operation, she was also shaved, due to all the dirt and grime in her coat. By the way, we only facilitate the placement of dogs for which we expect them to be happy in the Netherlands—and their adopters—with us. Frizzle definitely belongs there! We hope we can book a trip for her to the Netherlands soon so that she can finally experience what it's like to live in a loving home. Puppies like Frizzle are rarely, if ever, allowed into homes in the Romanian countryside. They live in a yard or on an outbuilding, often on a chain. Many owners do not have the money to have their dogs sterilized, or they do not consider it important. When the number of dogs becomes too large due to the birth of pups, it is very common in Romania to simply dump the excess. Of course, it is also possible that Frizzle was not dumped but ran away or escaped on her own. Either way: when she was found, she was in poor condition and very neglected, too thin and with a dirty coat. Frizzle will be ready to travel by the end of June, all her vaccinations will be up to date, and of course, she has a registered microchip and a passport. Her health has been checked (no specifics) and she has been spayed. When a suitable adopter or foster family steps forward for her, our foundation will arrange professional pet transport. Our puppies are brought home one by one to their shelter or permanent home address. We hope we can book a trip for this lovely young dog to the Netherlands soon! In Romania itself, dogs in the animal shelter have no chance, not even young dogs...

Informatie: Begin juni 2026 kregen we een bericht van Elisa: "A little girl found in the field tonight 🥺".

About Frizzle

What life with Frizzle looks like

Frizzle is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Straydogs Rescue Nederland in RC Nieuwe Pekela.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Frizzle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Frizzle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Straydogs Rescue Nederland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Frizzle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Frizzle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Straydogs Rescue Nederland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Frizzle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Frizzle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Straydogs Rescue Nederland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Frizzle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
