Brana

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Brana, a female dog, has been at the shelter since September 2026. She is estimated to be born in February 2018 and stands about 30-39 cm tall, weighing 5-9 kg. Learn more about Brana in the gallery! Brana was discovered during a spay/neuter operation. A resident reported to our team that she had been living on the street with another female dog for some time. He had taken them in on his property so they could be picked up for spay/neuter. Since Brana was very anxious, food was needed to lure her into the transport box. She now lives in our shelter and is looking for a home where she can slowly build trust. More information on how dogs come to the shelter and answers to general questions can be found in our animal welfare FAQ. Brana is a very reserved dog who initially prefers to stay in the background in new situations. When interacting with other dogs and people, she observes first instead of approaching them herself. At the same time, she shows cautious curiosity outside and begins to explore her surroundings at her own pace. Brana is already familiar with walking on a leash. She needs people who understand her insecurity, do not pressure her, and give her the time she needs to feel safer. We are looking for a loving home for Brana where she can arrive in peace. Her future humans should have understanding for her anxiety and meet her with a lot of patience. She needs the freedom to take small steps towards people and get to know her new environment at her own pace. A home without pressure, but with a lot of empathy and reliable orientation, would be especially important for Brana. We wish for this furry face people who are aware that shelter dogs bring a certain history with them. We can never predict at the shelter how a dog will react to life in Germany. That's why we are looking for people who bring patience, perseverance and goodwill. But one thing is certain: Whoever adopts instead of buys not only gives a second chance to an animal, but actively decides against animal suffering - and for a life with a very special companion by their side. Already in love? Send us a self-disclosure! Adoption If you are thinking about adoption, first read through the placement process. All dogs are vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, flea-treated, and spayed/neutered before departure (except for puppies up to 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any questions, feel free to send a message to our placement team.

About Brana

What life with Brana looks like

Brana is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brana, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brana?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brana on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brana if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Brana already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brana isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brana and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
