Brandy

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Brandy arrived at the shelter with her siblings when they were two months old. They were all boys except for her. All the puppies were very scared. Some growled at us, some hid, one or two came hesitantly to sniff us from a distance. She was one of the ones hiding. After all, with so many brothers, she let them take the lead. Within just a few days though, and after quite a few slices of salami, Brandy, like all the puppies, began to open up and become playful again. They were happy, jumping on us for affection, playing with each other and with their toys, and starting to go on their first walks on a leash. As time passed, Brandy grew into a sweet young dog. She is social and friendly, though a little hesitant at first, and she is now ready for a forever home. She has a light brown, velvety coat, a playful curled tail, and an almost black muzzle that gives her a touch of charm. When she meets someone new, she needs a little time to trust them. But it doesn’t take much. Just like when she was a puppy, with a bit of gentle encouragement and calmness, Brandy quickly forgets her initial shyness and turns into a tender and affectionate companion. She enjoys her walks and, with the right guidance, will soon overcome any insecurity she may feel about the outside world. She is also good-natured with other dogs and feels comfortable around them. She would be the perfect companion for people who like dogs that are not too small, not too big, not overly energetic, and not too lazy either, but who are, above all, truly sweet and loving.

About Brandy

What life with Brandy looks like

Brandy is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Save a Greek Stray in Metsovo.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brandy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brandy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Save a Greek Stray handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brandy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brandy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Save a Greek Stray will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brandy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brandy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Save a Greek Stray early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brandy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
