Bras

Male · Adult · 5 years

Bras is a medium-sized dog with a sad look and an equally unhappy past. He came to us already badly injured - scars on his body, a missing ear and old injuries to his paws indicate that he hasn't had an easy life and everything points to the fact that it was only with us that someone finally noticed him, surrounded him with care and support. Bras has had surgery on his hock and has recovered well from the procedure. In the meantime, he has learned to walk on a leash and is taken out with us for increasingly longer walks. It's pleasant to walk with him, slowly and thoughtfully observing the surroundings. He is a nice, gentle dog who lacks a person. It is easy to become friends with him - he approaches everyone with confidence who offers him a kind word and some attention. In moments when something bothers him, it is visible that he seeks support from a familiar person and would happily spend time by their side. Increasingly often Bras also timidly wags his tail and his little inner joy is beginning to break through the shelter stress. Bras is afraid of noises, large groups of people, street traffic and barking dogs. However, he has already been on several external treatments and manages in such situations if he has a friendly person with him. Few encounters with nice dogs also went well for him. Unfortunately, due to the long recovery period after the operation, Bras lived in the hospital for several months and saw very little of the world. At this moment we are looking for a home for him in a quiet area, where there are few stairs, where he could slowly get to know the surroundings and learn about home life. Bras pilnie potrzebuje nowego domu! To sympatyczny, łagodny pies, któremu brakuje człowieka. Poznaj lepiej nasze psiaki: Facebook: Instagram: TikTok: Basia 570160987 Behawiorystka 514360970

About Bras

What life with Bras looks like

Bras is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Recovering from ankle joint surgery, has scars and old injuries from difficult past, needs quiet environment for rehabilitation

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bras, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bras?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bras on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bras if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bras already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bras isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bras and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
